RESTYLING AND INTERIOR
The redevelopment project of the "Galleria Mazzini" in Lecce was conceived as part of the design competition of the same name.
It aims to transform a commercial space in a state of degradation and obsolescence into a multifunctional, accessible and inclusive environment. Particular attention has been paid to children and people with disabilities: play areas with anti-trauma flooring, reading areas and workshops have been planned, as well as areas dedicated to the little ones with changing tables, other equipment and accessible toilets. The entire gallery has been designed without architectural barriers, with continuous paths, slight slopes and automatic sliding doors. The intervention also aimed to improve the aesthetic and functional quality of the spaces through new floors, diffused lighting, green walls and comfortable furnishings. In addition to shopping, the gallery offers relaxation areas, coworking, exhibitions, a library and information points, becoming a meeting and social place. The project combines sustainability, safety and enhancement of local identity, aiming to give the city a liveable urban space, open to all.
Once again I had the pleasure of testing myself, together with other colleagues, in a design competition. Out of 43 proposals presented, ours reached the podium, winning third place. I am particularly satisfied to have had the same intuition as the winning project, proposing the replacement of skylights with cloisters to increase internal brightness.
Despite the limited time and limited resources, we managed to achieve a result of great value. It was a long journey, started in October 2024 and concluded with the delivery in February 2025: complex, full of challenges, but also deeply formative.
A heartfelt thanks to my colleagues who worked alongside me and who made it possible to realize a project that I am truly proud of!
